The PARTICULAR UNIVERSAL project is centered on the Castro Marim Municipality, where between December 2021 and September 2023 a series of artistic co-creation activities related to themes of identity, memory and soundscapes will take place.<\/p>\n

Developed with partners such as the Castro Marim Municipality<\/a>, the Norwegian association\u00a0NyMusikk<\/a>\u00a0and Lisbon associations\u00a0Teatro do Vestido<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Filho \u00danico<\/a>, the project includes several different work modules revolving around complementary concepts and strategies, such as (among others), the creation of a sound archive, a community archive for the \u201cVoices of Memory\u201d, and several themed artistic residencies directed towards Portuguese, Norwegian and international creators with a look towards creating and presenting theatrical works, new music and sound-art.<\/p>\n

This project is financed by the EEA Grants programme. Through the European Economic Area (EEA) Agreement, signed in the city of Oporto in May 1992, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway are partners, in the internal market, of the Member States of the European Union. As a way of promoting a continuous and balanced strengthening of the economic and trade relations, the parties of the European Economic Area Agreement have established a Multiannual Financial Mechanism, known as the EEA Grants. EEA Grants have as their objectives the reduction of social and economic disparities within Europe and the strengthening of bilateral relationships between the three countries and the beneficiary countries. For the 2014-2021 period, a total contribution of 2.8 billion euros to 15 beneficiary countries. Portugal will receive 102.7 million euros. Learn more at eeagrants.gov.pt<\/a><\/em><\/em><\/p>\n

There we present sonic portraits of the city's spaces, activities and memories, gathered from 2012 onwards through several sound documentation projects: Sons do Arco Ribeirinho Sul, Cidade Som and 80 Anos da \u00c1gua P\u00fablica no Barreiro, each of them striving to provide a new perspective over the city's heritage.<\/p>\n

With this project we invite everyone to stop and actively Listen, to pay closer attention to the Sounds that surround us and which often go unnoticed.<\/p>\n

REMAIIN \u2013 Radical European Music and its Intercultural Nature is a project which strives to investigate non-European cultural influences on the experimental, avant-garde and innovative music of the present and the past. The project\u2019s primary activities are concerts, exhibitions and performances, paired with discourse activities that dissect the presented work in the context of the project\u2019s topic. This project is developed by OUT.RA along with three other European cultural associations (Skanu Me\u017es from Latvia, Wilde Westen from Belgium, and Kontraklang from Germany).<\/p>\n

<\/span>Unearthing The Music: Creative Sound And Experimentation Under European Totalitarianism<\/div>

Unearthing The Music (\u201cDesenterrando a M\u00fasica\u201d, em Portugu\u00eas) \u00e9 um projecto\u00a0co-financiado pelo programa \u201cEurope for Citizens” que tem como foco a liberdade de express\u00e3o \u2013 particularmente na m\u00fasica \u2013 nos pa\u00edses dentro da \u201ccortina de ferro\u201d, seguindo os desenvolvimentos nessas sociedades ap\u00f3s o processo de \u201cde-estalizina\u00e7\u00e3o\u201d e as revoltas H\u00fangaras e Polacas de 1956.<\/p>\n

In the European countries that were subjected to the decade-long socialist regimes, jazz, electronics and avant-garde music acquired the aureole of martyrdom, the symbolism of underground resistance and of a quest towards democracy. The establishment of a \u2018second culture\u2019, one of unofficial music and art had an important role in the everyday life of these societies, but it still did not fully escape control. As a result, a great deal of this unofficial music remains undocumented, unspread, and deprived of context and signification in the larger history of European vanguard music, its influence in present-day creative scenes unknown.\n\nBy gathering music, videos, articles, testimonies, opinions and investigative studies on an online resource center, as well as promoting awareness and discussion over this issue, we aim to contribute to understanding to what extent and how it was possible, over the diverse regime grips on the arts in the different countries of the eastern bloc, to live in a creative mindset, to develop self expression through innovative music-making, and to contribute to such an European Identity staple as is its creative, adventurous and genre-bending music happening right now.<\/p>\n

O projecto \u201cSONS DO ARCO RIBEIRINHO SUL\u201d pretendeu, atrav\u00e9s de uma abordagem art\u00edstica baseada no Som, contribuir para a preserva\u00e7\u00e3o e a consciencializa\u00e7\u00e3o do patrim\u00f3nio material e imaterial, ecol\u00f3gico e urbano do Sapal de Coina, Mata da Machada e Frente Ribeirinha do Barreiro.\u00a0Foi uma tradu\u00e7\u00e3o criativa e cultural das importantes mudan\u00e7as actualmente a tomar forma ao longo da \u00e1rea rural, da \u00e1rea urbana e de toda a frente ribeirinha do Concelho do Barreiro (e do respectivo Estu\u00e1rio do Tejo no qual se enquadra) e compreendeu, ao longo da sua dura\u00e7\u00e3o, uma resid\u00eancia art\u00edstica, a cria\u00e7\u00e3o de um arquivo sonoro, a realiza\u00e7\u00e3o de workshops e sess\u00f5es de grava\u00e7\u00e3o abertas a alunos das escolas do Concelho, e a produ\u00e7\u00e3o de um filme documental.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
