EVENT POSTPONED TO A FUTURE DATE TO BE DEFINED
Under instructions from the Barreiro Municipality and with the current contingency plans for schools' participation in public events in place, we have postponed Luís Bittencourt's "Water Music 3" show on the 17th of this month to a as of yet undefined future date.
Luís Bittencourt is a Brazil-born percussionist, composer and researcher currently living in Porto. He has developed work in the field of new music with a particular focus on less commonly used percussive instruments, and has investigated (in an academic context) the use of water as a sound source and musical instrument by studying the piece “Water Music” by Chinese composer Tan Dun. É esta obra, juntamente com duas outras obras homónimas dos compositores John Cage and Joseph Byrd (the latter being presented live for the first time in Portugal), which makes up the performance he will present in Barreiro. Unusual music paying tribute to an equally unusual instrument: water itself, here used as the foundation for this performance.
This show will celebrate the International Water day and seeks to promote, through artistic practice, the universal importance of our planet’s most valuable resource.
