Pianist, composer, teacher, activist and humanist, Tiago Sousa (who's been making Barreiro his home for the past two decades) is one of the most original and respected portuguese musicians in this 21st century, having authored – at least – two masterpieces in the country's musical history: 'Walden Pond's Monk' (2011), in a trio with percussionist Baltazar Molina and clarinetist Ricardo Ribeiro, and 'Samsara' (2013), an absolute piano solo of staggering beauty, economy and complexity.
With a new album fully recorded and expected to hit the stores in 2020 (his second on british label Discrepant Records), he's recently been developing and presenting on special occasions a new solo repertoire which, besides anticipating some of these soon-to-be-released pieces, pays hommage to some of the beacons that light his path: Claude Debussy, Federico Mompou or Erik Satie.
This will be a rare occasion for Barreiro to witness the brilliance of one of it's most powerful voices. One not to be missed.
