Fast approaching their fifteenth year of existence, the Humanization 4tet is a non-academic doctorate degree on the beauty of jazz as an encounter.

Led by the idiosyncratic, absolutely inimitable guitarist Luís Lopes, fed by the increasingly stratospheric tenor sax played by Rodrigo Amado (for those in the know, the growing and deserved international recognition garnered by our great Portuguese blower is almost overwhelming), and standing on the colossal rhythmic section of brothers Aaron and Stefan Gonzalez, Texans who are funk, the quartet is the extremely happy joining of original swing, street groove bop, and the astral lyricism of free, with a jazz punk pose characteristic of those who are here to do whatever they feel like.

After more than 20 concerts throughout Europe last October, they make a stop in Barreiro before returning to the old continent and demolishing everything again with their amazing album Believe, Believe (recorded in New Orleans, a move which makes absolute sense), noted by many of the scene’s lists of best music made in 2021 - because it reflects all that’s good in all of jazz. Period.
