SOROASTRA
Born from the forced isolation period in 2020, Soroastra are the result of the collaboration and “iberian alliance” between Afonso Simões (drums and percussion) and Borja Caro (Max-Msp, synthesizers, effects); the affinities between the two musicians reveal themselves in the studio through krautrock and all of the electronica of the 80s and onwards - new age, tribalism, techno - and reflect the colours emitted in their main projects: the visible spectrum of all the tropics, in Afonso Simões’ Gala Drop, and the gray and industrial tones of Metametal in the case of Borja Caro.
With presentations duly completed, we move on to what really merits saying - that their recently released album, “Olímpiadas de Pensamentos Acelerados”, on the Fungo label, not only has one of the best names of the last few years but is also a wonderfully familiar and yet strange trip that forces you to really feel it, especially live.

CÉSAR BURAGO
Easily recognizable as one of the most idiosyncratic musicians in this rectangle, Portuguese/Angolan percussionist César Burago is known as one of Sei Miguel’s (and occasionally Rafael Toral’s) co-conspirators, making a decisive contribution to the wonderfully sparse and suspended sonic universes created by those two great artists Portugal was lucky enough to spawn. After a hiatus from live performances, he recently resumed his live solo appearances, and we can only be thankful for the privilege - because the way he interprets the pulse of the music around jazz with apparently limited resources (Small ones, effectively), and how he draws miniatures of impossible architectures and metrics makes us believe, every time he hear him, that he holds the key to the most intimate secrets of rhythm.
