We kick off OUT.RA's regular music programming for 2020 next week with a performance by YANN GOURDON at the Barreiro Municipal Library on friday the 17th.
A French composer and sound artist, Yann Gourdon has the hurdy-gurdy as his instrument of choice, which he has transported from its popular roots to the domain of the densest and most hypnotic of atmospheres through the instrument's own characterist ressonance, with an approach informed by minimalism and the traditional music of the French region of Auvergne which undeniably marks his work with the FRANCE trio and as part of the La Nòvia Collective, but which particularly shines in his solo performances as he plays with the acoustic properties of the venues he presents his work at.
